Scuba Diving in Amed
The abundance of marine life and the beauty of the coral reefs surrounding Amed have lead the area to become one of the major dive spots in the world. There are over 40 dive sites surrounding Amed area. Scuba diving and snorkeling are popular activities whole year, with water temperatures ranging from 26 to 32 degrees with few currents at most dive sites. Visibility is generally over 20 meters. The dive site depth ranges from 10 to 70 meters making scuba diving enjoyable for all levels of divers (sport and technical diving). While most dives have an average depth of 30 meters, some dive sites like Tulamben’s Drop-Off or Gili Selang are perfect for deeper exploration.
Rich marine biodiversity
Amed are geographically located in Indo Pacific region and holds the richest marine biodiversity on the planet, where the USAT Liberty shipwreck is considered to be one of the top diving destination. A great variety of marine life can be seen while diving in Amed ! There are Boxfishes, Banner Fishes, a variety of Moray Eels, Scorpion Fishes, Angel Fishes, Clown Fishes, Dragonets Fishes, Frog Fishes, Lion fishes, Groupers, Queenfishes, Barracudas, Manta Rays, Dolphins, Turtles and Sharks can be spotted year round. If you are lucky you can see Octopus, Cuttlefishes, Mola Mola and Whale Sharks and there is loads of macro critters such as Nudibranchs, Shellfishes, Seahorses, Shrimps tucked between Anemones and Corals.
